Center Director
Dan is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Chappaqua. He brings years of experience from his previous roles at Xerox, Avaya, Motorola, and JPMorgan Chase, where he worked as a manager and licensed financial advisor. He holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from NYU and a BA in History from Yale University.
Having struggled with math as a child, Dan is passionate about helping students truly understand math in a way that makes sense to them. He lives in Chappaqua with his family and coaches soccer for New York Red Bulls.
Richard Ku
Senior Instructor
Richard is a Senior Instructor at Mathnasium of Chappaqua with a deep background in both engineering and education. He holds advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, along with a master’s in Mathematics Education from CUNY.
With 17 years of experience teaching high school math and AP Calculus in NYC public schools, Richard specializes in helping students strengthen their number sense and problem-solving strategies. He enjoys guiding learners toward greater confidence and understanding in math.

Senior Instructor
Toni Ann is a Senior Instructor at Mathnasium of Chappaqua and a certified teacher in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She has served as a 4th grade teacher in the Bronx and currently works as a Teacher’s Aide at Mt. Pleasant Blythedale School.
A Pleasantville resident and mother of three, Toni Ann enjoys helping children in her community grow their math skills. She is dedicated to making learning approachable and fun for all students, and she especially enjoys seeing their confidence grow with each success.
Joy Ovadek
Assistant Center Director/Instructor
Joy is the Assistant Center Director and an Instructor at Mathnasium of Chappaqua. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Mathematics from Lehman College and began her career in advertising before pursuing her dream of teaching.
Joy has worked at several Mathnasium centers and brings enthusiasm and experience to the Chappaqua team. She lives in Bedford Hills and is passionate about helping students unlock their math potential through personalized instruction and caring guidance.
Rick Cassell
Instructor
Rick is an Instructor at Mathnasium of Chappaqua with over 30 years of classroom experience. He holds a BA in Psychology from Pace University and an MS in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle.
Rick taught middle school Special Education math for 33 years and has over a decade of tutoring experience. He is committed to helping students build confidence and overcome challenges with math through clear explanations and consistent support.
Scott Collins
Senior Instructor
Scott is an Instructor at Mathnasium of Chappaqua. He earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania. He has a background in quantitative portfolio management. Scott enjoys working both with students who excel and are seeking enrichment as well as with students who struggle with math or who may think they don’t like math. The latter may pose more of a challenge, however Scott finds it rewarding to help those students improve, and thinks it is important to help everyone develop a love and appreciation for math. In his spare time Scott enjoys playing guitar, going to stand-up comedy shows, and spending time with friends and family.
Eric Silvester
Instructor
Eric received a B.A. degree in Business Management from Wagner College, where he excelled as a student athlete. In addition to instructing at Mathnasium of Chappaqua, he is a youth soccer coach for F.C. Westchester. He takes pride in supporting children’s growth, sharpening their athletic skills on the field, and guiding their confidence in mathematics. Seeing kids improve has been his greatest achievement. When he’s not tutoring or coaching, Eric can be found snowboarding/skiing in the winters, or backpacking around Europe in the summers.
