Center Director
Chris earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Secondary Teaching from the University of California, Davis. Before joining Mathnasium, he worked in both public and charter schools, tutoring students from Algebra through AP Calculus.
Chris is passionate about helping students overcome math anxiety and develop confidence through fun, engaging instruction. His goal is to make math feel less intimidating while keeping learning exciting and rewarding. Outside the center, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, solving sudoku puzzles, and mastering the Rubik’s Cube.
Vinay Mahbubani

Vinay is a senior nursing student at California State Long Beach who finds joy in exploring the depth and structure of mathematical thinking. He loves teaching and helping students gain confidence through caring guidance and clear explanations.
In his free time, Vinay enjoys playing basketball, trying new recipes with friends, and listening to hip-hop and house music. A fun fact: he’s been skydiving and can quote lines from a wide variety of movies!

For preschool and kindergarten students, our caring tutors focus on building number sense, critical thinking, and problem-solving through playful activities that spark curiosity and nurture a love of learning.
From addition and subtraction to multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percents, we help students in grades 1–5 truly understand how math works and even the subject.
Our program supports middle schoolers with any topic or course—from Prealgebra to Geometry—in a fun, caring environment where abstract concepts become clear and manageable.
High school students receive personalized help with rigorous coursework, including Algebra, Trigonometry, and Precalculus, as well as standardized math test preparation to achieve their academic and admissions goals.
