Diego Barahona
Center Director
Diego graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology. His experience as a counselor, instructional aide, and substitute teacher has allowed him to work with students of all grade levels. He has always been passionate about working with kids and helping them recognize their own potential. Diego especially enjoys helping students reach that “aha moment,” when everything finally clicks, and is grateful to experience that moment over and over again at Mathnasium.
He believes every student can succeed and strives to create a positive, encouraging environment where students can build both their math skills and confidence. Outside of Mathnasium, Diego enjoys spending time with friends, going to karaoke, watching sitcoms, and attempting to play basketball.
Nick van Vliet
Operations Director
Nick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Cal State Northridge and has been part of the Mathnasium team since 2014. He previously served as a Center Director in Irvine, Diamond Bar, and Santa Clarita before moving into an operations leadership role, overseeing five centers.
Nick is committed to creating encouraging environments where students thrive and build lasting math confidence. He enjoys coaching and motivating students to achieve their best. In his spare time, he loves sports, reading, BBQs, and competing in just about any game.
Sherin Yueksel
District Manager
Sherin earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She joined Mathnasium in 2021 as an instructor, quickly moved into leadership, and helped open Mathnasium of Valencia.
She is passionate about creating inclusive and empowering spaces where students can feel confident and grow. Sherin enjoys spending her free time cooking, shopping, and making memories with her family.
Davin Huynh

Davin is currently a student at UCI majoring in Mathematics. He plans to be involved with machine learning for his career. His hobbies include playing puzzles, hiking, and drinking tea.
Jorge Gomilla

A fan of creativity, Jorge has a background in multimedia and theme park photography.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from Porto University and is currently working on obtaining a Mathematics High School teaching credential.
His favorite hobbies include hiking, learning History and studying foreign languages.

Lan is currently a student at Orange Coast College, majoring in liberal arts. She is committed to a life of helping others and plans to pursue an English teaching career. Isaac Aviles
Instructor
Isaac is currently studying Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine. He plans on going to medical school to become a physician and using his medical skills to serve underrepresented Native American tribes throughout the country. When he is not studying, Isaac enjoys reading, spending time with family and close friends, drinking matcha, running marathons, and weight lifting.
