Carolyn Richardson
Instructor
Carolyn is a recent graduate of Cal Poly SLO with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. She has grown up in Hercules and is very passionate about helping to guide kids in our community. She believes that math is a key foundational skill in both education and life and hopes to use creativity to help share it with others. In her free time, she loves baking, crafting, and mystery novels.
Liang Zeng
Instructor
Liang is a student at Berkeley City College majoring in Mathematics. She brings years of tutoring experience from high school through college and loves helping students gain confidence in math. In her free time, she loves attending sports games and caring for her pet rabbit of 5 years!
Lein Elbgal
Instructor
Lein is currently studying Electrical Engineering at UC Davis. She has always enjoyed math and is passionate about working with kids, with several years of experience working with youth throughout high school and beyond. She enjoys helping students feel more confident in their abilities and making learning a positive experience.
Outside of school and work, Lein loves trying out new cafés, hiking, reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
Nav Singh Randhawa
Owner and Center Director
Nav holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from U.C. Berkeley and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan. Coming from a family of educators, she grew up seeing how the right guidance can change a child’s path. Before Mathnasium, she worked with Technology companies like Oracle, Cisco, and Expedia.
Math has been a key driver in her own journey, and also knows that Math can feel like a barrier for many students. Motivated by a passion for teaching and problem-solving, Nav opened Mathnasium to provide personalized math instruction that builds confidence and mastery.
Shaila Khan
Instructor
Shaila is a junior at UC Berkeley majoring Integrative Biology. Originally from Boston, she has a deep passion for teaching and has experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
Before coming to Berkeley, Shaila spent a year as a Supplemental Instructor for freshman Calculus at UMass Amherst, where she helped students build their math skills and confidence. She enjoys finding creative ways to explain challenging concepts and making learning feel approachable and engaging.
Outside of Mathnasium, Shaila enjoys watching movies, photography, and exploring new places around Berkeley. She loves capturing moments through photography and discovering new films in her free time.
