Lead Instructor
Adam Russell attended California State University, Los Angeles, where he majored in Computer Science. He has been with Mathnasium since August 2023. Working with students has allowed him to further his own understanding of mathematics, forcing him to approach problems in different and sometimes unorthodox ways. In his free time, his hobbies and interests include playing MMOs and TTRPGs, creating digital art, and solving puzzles. An interesting fact about Adam is that he has been slowly writing a plot for a book for the last four to five years.

Derek Leung attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a degree in Financial Math and Statistics. He loves helping students develop their skills and build confidence when facing new topics and academic challenges. As an Eagle Scout, he values the opportunity to pass on his knowledge to others and feels most rewarded when seeing them succeed. Moreover, he enjoys inspiring students by showcasing his own proficiency in math.
Derek has been with Mathnasium since October 2025 and has worked with the San Marino location since February 2026. His hobbies and interests include fitness, technology, videogames, concerts, and learning new things. An interesting fact about Derek is that he is a former competitive swimmer and worked for an AI startup during college.

Katryna joined Mathnasium in November 2024 and is a Hospitality Management major at Cal Poly Pomona. She loves the center's collaborative and friendly environment. Outside of work, she is an avid traveler who has visited over 10 countries and enjoys basketball, hiking, and baking.

Justin Pang joined the Mathnasium team in March 2024. A graduate of Brandeis University with a degree in Biology, Justin finds great fulfillment in seeing students build a strong interest in mathematics and work diligently to achieve their goals.
Outside of the center, he is a major sports enthusiast with a particular love for football. He also enjoys exploring various cuisines, though Korean and Mexican food are his favorite comfort choices, and he often spends his free time watching movies with friends, especially scary ones! Justin brings a unique background to his role, having previously worked as a medical scribe in a men’s maximum security prison and as a research assistant in the laboratory of a Nobel laureate.

Kimberly is currently pursuing her MA in Speech Pathology and holds a BA in Psychology from UC Riverside, along with an AA in Accounting from LAVC. She rejoined Mathnasium in early 2025 and brings a fun, encouraging presence to the center.
Kimberly enjoys crochet, roller skating, and watching movies. She’s a proud pet owner of one dog and three cats. Her love for math and collaboration makes her a valued part of the team.
