What do you like most about learning?
I love making unexpected connections between seemingly unrelated topics.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
One student I worked with came to me convinced she was simply “bad at math” and would shut down whenever she saw a difficult problem. We slowed things down, breaking lessons into specific parts which could be tackled more easily. Over time, she went from avoiding challenging problems to tackling them independently.
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
I love working through challenging calculus and geometry problems with students.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I make learning math fun by working in games, puzzles, and students’ interests. I also encourage creativity so students feel confident and excited to solve problems.

What do you like most about learning?
I like learning because it challenges me to think in new ways and grow every day.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
The biggest impact I’ve had is tutoring a first grader in basic computation using standard algorithms, and they are now performing above their grade level in math.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I make learning math fun for students by offering them rewards such as stars for completing challenge problems and simple timed challenges, like finishing a practice page in two minutes for double stars.
