The location makes drop-off simple for busy families, with plenty to do nearby while you wait.

• What are your opening hours?

  Our instructional hours are: 

  • Monday to Thursday: 3:00pm – 7:00pm 

  • Friday: 12:30pm – 4:30pm 

  • Saturday: 10:00am – 2:00pm 

  Our office is open Monday to Thursday from 10:30am to 7:00pm and Friday from 10:30am to 5:00pm.

  Mathnasium Edinburgh South works with children from Primary 1 through to Secondary 4, roughly ages 5 to 16, across the Curriculum for Excellence from Early Level through to the Senior Phase.

• How do you teach maths? Which curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium Edinburgh South, we don't follow a traditional curriculum. We use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, built on the idea that any child can learn maths with the right guidance and instruction that makes sense to them. 

  In practice, our instructors combine mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques with personalised, assessment-based learning plans, teaching each child in the way they learn best.  

  We also leave time for schoolwork, so sessions can complement what students are covering under the Curriculum for Excellence.

• Do you work with advanced children or only the ones struggling with maths?

  Mathnasium Edinburgh South works with children of all skill levels, whether they need to catch up, keep up with their class or get ahead. 

  When a child is finding maths difficult, we start from exactly what they already know and build forward, closing gaps methodically so each new topic has solid ground beneath it. Our instructors adjust their pace and approach to how each child learns, celebrating every win along the way.

• Do you offer National 5 maths tutoring?

  Yes, Mathnasium Edinburgh South supports S3 and S4 students through their National 5 maths preparation with a personalised plan built around their current progress, target grade and the topics needing the most attention, covering number, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics. 

• Do you offer GCSE or IGCSE maths tutoring?

  Yes! As some local independent schools, including George Watson's College, offer GCSE or IGCSE Mathematics alongside or instead of National 5, we also support students preparing for these exams. 

  Sessions are built around each child's exam board, target grade and the topics where they most need to improve, such as number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics. 

• Do you work with children in Primary 1 and early Primary?

  Yes! We support children from Primary 1 through the early stages of Primary school, building the number sense and numeracy skills that everything else in maths depends on.

  Tuition at Mathnasium Edinburgh South is priced as a flat monthly membership fee rather than a per-session rate, much like a gym membership. We recommend most children attend two to three sessions a week for optimal results. 

  Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.
