Azra Khan
Center Director
Azra is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Mendham and brings a lifelong passion for education. Raised in a family of educators, she believes that helping kids build math confidence can transform their academic journeys. Her most memorable teaching experience was in South Asia, where she witnessed the power of "lightbulb moments" firsthand.
Azra holds an MBA and is a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience mentoring young professionals. She is committed to creating a fun, supportive learning environment where every student can develop strong problem-solving skills and a love for math.
Oliver St. John
Lead Instructor
Oliver holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Business from Boston College. He has several years of experience teaching students K–12 across STEAM subjects and coaching extracurricular teams, including basketball and debate.
At Mathnasium, Oliver uses his dynamic teaching style to connect with students and grow their confidence in math. Outside the center, he enjoys writing about pop culture, exploring new foods, and going on long drives. His favorite number is 18, and he wore it proudly on his sports jerseys growing up.
JoAnn Mendl
Lead Instructor
JoAnn brings deep experience and enthusiasm to the classroom with certifications in Elementary, Middle School, and Special Education (K–12). She holds degrees from Trinity College and Teachers College, Columbia University.
JoAnn believes math is a lens for understanding the world, whether it’s measuring ingredients or launching rockets. She’s passionate about turning “aha!” moments into lasting success. Her favorite number is 8, a symbol of balance and infinity. When not teaching, she loves visiting national parks and planning her next adventure.
Emma Lothrop
Instructor
Emma graduated from Dickinson College with a double major in Physics and Environmental Science. As a teaching assistant at Dickinson, she loved helping students connect math to real-world concepts in science and engineering.
Emma also teaches martial arts to students of all ages, blending discipline with mentorship. At Mathnasium, she’s excited to help students develop confidence and mastery in math. In her free time, she enjoys painting, drawing, and being outdoors with her dog.
Edward Conte
Instructor
Edward is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Computer Graphics and Digital Media. He brings a strong background in analytical thinking and enjoys helping students connect math to design, technology, and everyday problem-solving.
At Mathnasium, Edward supports students with step-by-step guidance to deepen their understanding of key concepts. Outside of work, he enjoys bodybuilding and working in computer graphics. His favorite number is five, and the TV volume should always be a multiple of five!
Giovanni Cosenza

Giovanni earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Rutgers University. Having loved math for as long as he can remember, he is passionate about sharing that enthusiasm and helping others discover how enjoyable the subject can be. His favorite number is 1, which to him symbolizes striving to be the best version of yourself. Outside of mathematics, Giovanni enjoys exploring new restaurants and spending time with his dogs.
Anjali Jerath

Anjali Jerath is a sophomore at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, majoring in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track! Outside of academics, Anjali stays engaged through several meaningful experiences—currently interning in an epidemiology lab at the Rutgers Cancer Institute and volunteer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In her free time, Anjali enjoys playing the piano, hiking, and spending time with family.
