Mathnasium of Stanmore's specially trained instructors use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach designed to help children build lasting maths mastery. We combine personalised learning plans with mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques so each child understands the maths behind the method rather than memorising steps to follow.
Children progress through our teaching approach at their own pace, building the kind of mathematical confidence that holds up under exam pressure and in the classroom. We focus on developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them throughout every stage of their maths journey.
Every instructor at Mathnasium of Stanmore completes Mathnasium's own training programme before leading a session. We deliver instruction face-to-face in a caring and fun environment, at our centre on Honeypot Lane or online via Mathnasium@home.
Each child's sessions follow their personalised learning plan, so every child gets exactly the instruction they need, whether they are working towards SATs, entrance exams or GCSE.
Every child at Mathnasium of Stanmore begins their enrolment with a diagnostic assessment that gives us an accurate picture of what each child already knows and where the knowledge gaps are.
From that picture, we build a personalised learning plan that sequences topics in the right order for that child, closing gaps methodically so each new concept has solid foundations beneath it. We review progress regularly so the plan keeps pace with each child as they move towards maths mastery.

Specially Trained and Caring Team
Mihir Shah
Franchise Owner
Mihir is the Franchise Owner of Mathnasium of Stanmore, which has been helping local children get better at maths since 2022. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016 and spent five years in mergers and acquisitions in London after an Economics degree at University of Nottingham. Maths ran through all of it and he wanted to give young people the same confidence with numbers that opened those doors for him. He has built the centre to be the kind of place he would have wanted as a child personal, unhurried and genuinely enjoyable making maths fun and engaging. A child leaving tuition should be able to feel capable which matters more than getting through just worksheets. Outside of Mathnasium you will find him on a padel court, out on his bike or running after his baby daughter.

Mathnasium of Stanmore works with children from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across all Key Stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
Stanmore families come to us for a wide range of reasons, from building early number sense in primary school to preparing for selective school entry and pushing through GCSE maths with confidence. Whatever the stage, there is a programme to fit.
Our instructors work across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum, from early number skills in Reception through to the algebra, geometry, statistics and trigonometry covered in KS3 and KS4.
Every child's sessions are shaped by their personalised learning plan rather than a set sequence of topics, so the focus goes towards whatever they're finding hardest right now, whether that's building confidence with fractions in Year 4 or tightening up algebra before GCSE mocks.
A private tutor typically follows what a child brings to that day's session, such as a worksheet, a homework problem, an upcoming test. Mathnasium of Stanmore starts from a different point entirely.
At our centre, every student's sessions follow a personalised learning plan built to close their specific knowledge gaps in a logical order and at a pace that works for them.
Teaching happens in a fun and supportive environment, where each child receives individual, face-to-face instruction, building confidence alongside peers rather than working in isolation. And because our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, a proven maths teaching approach used across 1,200+ centres worldwide, the progress children make here is built to last.
We do not follow a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Our instructors use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach built on the idea that a child who truly understands maths will retain it and apply it, rather than forgetting it the moment an exam ends.
Sessions bring together mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, always guided by the child's own learning plan. Sessions can run alongside what's being taught at school under the National Curriculum, while also working through any gaps that have built up over time.
Mathnasium of Stanmore works with children of all skill levels, whether they need to catch up, keep up or get ahead.
Children who are finding maths difficult work with our caring instructors from exactly where they are, building forward step by step as knowledge gaps close and confidence grows.
Children who are ahead of their year group follow their own path too, with enrichment that stretches their thinking beyond the school curriculum and prepares them for selective school entry, competitions or more demanding work ahead.
Yes! Mathnasium of Stanmore supports children preparing for 7+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams used by local independent and grammar schools in the area, covering the numerical reasoning and problem-solving skills these assessments require.
The Stanmore area is well served by selective and independent schools, and many of the families we work with are navigating entry to schools such as Haberdashers' Boys' School, Haberdashers' Girls' School, North London Collegiate School, Orley Farm School and Merchant Taylors'.
We recommend beginning preparation early to leave enough time to close knowledge gaps and build consistent performance across all question types.
Yes, Mathnasium of Stanmore supports Year 10 and Year 11 children through their GCSE maths preparation, across both Foundation and Higher tiers. Sessions are built around each child's current grade, target grade and the topics that need the most attention, covering number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics.
Yes! We help Year 6 children in Stanmore work through both the Arithmetic and Reasoning papers for their KS2 SATs, with a personalised learning plan that targets their specific gaps rather than covering everything from scratch.
We also prepare Year 4 children for the Multiplication Tables Check and support Year 2 children working towards their KS1 assessments.
Tuition at Mathnasium of Stanmore is based on a flat monthly membership rather than charging per session. Most children benefit from two to three sessions a week, and once the diagnostic assessment is complete, we'll recommend a session plan built around your child's specific needs and goals.
The enrolment begins with a diagnostic assessment, so we're working from a clear picture of your child's maths rather than a guess. We then put together their personalised learning plan and walk you through exactly what we'd suggest.
